Ammar festival extends submission deadline

The Ammar Popular Film Festival in Iran has extended the submission deadline for its 13th edition.

The deadline has been extended until December 1.

This year’s edition of the festival is to be headed by Soheil Assad.

The 13th edition of the Ammar Popular Film Festival will take place in a hybrid form in the Persian calendar month of Dey, which begins on December 22.

The popular screening of the participating films across Iran’s cities and villages will begin in December and run until the next autumn.

The popular screenings will take place both in-person and online.

The Ammar film festival goes against the promotion of “individualism and extreme enjoyment without caring about the society's troubles”, the event’s website reads.

The festival aims “to raise real awareness and responsibility among the general public,” it says, adding that the event’s mission is to create an atmosphere in which independent filmmakers and thinkers can gather together.
